You can buy 0.5 (half) hectare for 14,750.- EUROs. The teak trees and pineapples are already planted when you start your investment. You become owner of the trees and pineapples and the total yield is yours after deducting 5% for operational costs. The maintenance, harvesting and sale of trees and pineapples is done by KETSO. The revenues from sales after the first and second harvests will be paid directly to you. The first harvest of pineapples is after 2 years and the final harvest is after 4 years. This means you will get your initial investment back after 4 years! The trees will be ready for harvest after 20 years from planting. The investment is only required at the start of the participation. There are no more costs after that, during the entire growth period. The KETSO Gbanti plantation is strictly reserved for teak timber trees. The oldest trees are now 4 years old and more than 6 meters tall. For the 4-year old trees and at this growth rate you will receive returns on your investment 10-15 years from now. Natural teak forests take over 100 years to grow, industrial teak plantations however are planted and pruned to obtain maximal growth to reach a size large enough to get boards of 14ft by 1ft. Research in Ghana and Myanmar has shown that this will be obtained after approximately 15 years. KETSO in Sierra Leone has implemented these methods at the Makombeh-Gbanti plantation.
